Moog launches new business venture to make electric construction vehicles
Moog Inc. is launching a new business venture to produce electric, zero-emission systems for construction vehicles. Moog Construction will replace the diesel engine and hydraulics of construction vehicles with an electrification system and software that allows for more automation. “Over the last five years, we’ve seen growing opportunity for the company in this space, primarily driven by what we see as a shift towards zero-emission machines and also more connected and automated machines,” said Joe Baldi, director of strategy and partnerships for Moog. The company, which saw revenue of $2.9 billion last year, has some existing business in construction but wanted to move further into the space. One of Moog’s first prototypes for the intelligent machine electrification systems was a project with Doosan Bobcat.
